Oneida County school bus cameras flag 852 violations in 2023-24
July 9, 2024Verra Mobility partners with Marinship Development to empower the Bay Area for safer communities
July 31, 2024Every year, National Stop on Red Week serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of red-light running and the importance of safe driving. This year, we're focusing on "Zero in on Red," a future with zero fatalities and serious injuries caused by this reckless behavior.
The Dangers of Red-Light Running
In 2023, Verra Mobility’s proprietary data alone caught more than 4.6-million red-light violations. Tragically, this kind of dangerous driving behavior resulted in 1,149 deaths and more than 107,000 injuries in 2022.
The true cost of red-light running goes far beyond statistics. Every crash leaves a trail of devastation. Victims and their families endure physical and emotional trauma, often facing life-altering consequences. These numbers represent real people – lives lost, families shattered.
Road safety is a shared responsibility. Here's how you can contribute:
-
Always Stop on Red: It's the law, and it saves lives. A few seconds saved at a light isn't worth the risk of a devastating crash.
- Spread Awareness: Talk to friends and family about Stop on Red Week and the importance of safe driving.
- Advocate for Safety: Support legislation and enforcement measures that address red-light running.
Education is Important
Safety is everyone's responsibility—not just during Stop on Red Week but every day and every time someone takes to the road. Together, we can protect our communities, families, and children by always stopping on red.
We have provided resources below for you to download and share this week and throughout the year.
